| Comments:
I bought this motor home to go out on the road with a tent show that I tour around Iowa during the summer. I got the RV for the actors to live out of while on tour. It would have been perfect for that purpose.
Unfortunately I had to cancel the show this year because of health issues so I have no further use for a motor coach now. I've only used the Fleetwood once since I purchased it in the fall of 2007.
I found this motor home in Oregon and drove it back to Iowa. The 454 Chevy eight cylinder runs great. It cruised along with no problems. All the coach systems work fine: front and rear ceiling air conditioners, gas/electric furnace, 4-burner gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, water heater, shower, toilet, & water pump.
After I bought it I had the motor tuned up, the Onan gas generator serviced, the water heater repaired, changed the oil/oil filter/transmission fluid/coolant, gave it a lube job, packed the wheel bearings, replaced the front air bags and had a RV dealer winterize it for me. The tires have pretty good tread and the body is in good shape.
I love the interior layout. I looked at a lot of units and this one just looked great inside. That's why I went all the way to Oregon to buy it. I love the fact that the shower and toilet are separated. Nobody needs both at the same time but sometimes you need one and not the other. Check out the floor plan I included with the photos. (It's not that clear on the plan but there is a pull down bed above the driver & passenger seats.)
The interior is in real good condition, too. No tears or noticeable damage (except a bit of aging here and there) and everything is comfortable: driver seat, swivel passenger seat, roomy couch, swivel living room chairs, double bed, dinette booth, and foldout sleepers. You can get a fair idea by looking at the photographs.
The literature says it can hold 64 gallons of fresh water and 89 gallons of gas but I’m not sure myself. I haven’t used it enough to know. I estimate it gets about 8 miles to the gallon but I was driving pretty fast when I drove it back from Oregon.
The previous owner put a fairly new CD player in it for me. He said he took it out of his truck. It wasn't built for this motor home so he had to cut out the dash opening a bit. The CD works really well, but the radio antennae wire needs some work. A friend who traveled with me to Oregon knew how to get the speakers in the back bedroom to work but I don't know how to use all the controls, yet. There wasn't an owner's manual included.
This is a great vintage unit, but it is definitely used so you aren't going to get a perfect motor home for this price. The paint is in OK condition but it's a little faded compared to what the photos show. The awning comes down but it's got a tear and though it opens fine there are a couple of clips missing that are supposed to help hold it in place. The previous owner rolled it down for me and I haven't done it since I got it home so I'm not an expert on awnings. The gas gauge doesn’t work so good, and there are a couple tattered curtains. Oh, plus, there is no spare tire. There wasn't one when I bought it.
Motor homes are pretty pricy so you are getting quite a package with this older rig despite its shortcomings. There is a lot of room in this 33 footer and plenty of miles left on the motor and chassis. Lots of comfort for the bucks. Do some comparison shopping and you'll see what I mean.
Like I said before, if I wasn't facing a health crisis I wouldn't be selling this motor coach. Now I have no choice but to find it a good home. I've tried to tell you everything I could about it, both the good attributes and the things that need attention. I'm selling it "As Is" so please pay attention to the details I've provided. All motor homes require ongoing maintenance so think about what you are getting into. They are great, but you need to tinker with little things now and then, with both chassis and coach. That's just the nature of these things.
Well…Happy RV hunting!
I hope you find the one that fits your needs and financial range perfectly.
